Review : 2012 Super Bowl Half-Time Show

Ever since Janet Jackson’s infamous wardrobe malfunction during the 2004 Super Bowl half time show, NBC and the NFL has moved away from huge collaborative shows filled with pop artists. Since 2004 the performance has been done by aging musical acts who have been around the media long enough to know not to flash a nipple or some other profane gesture during such a high profile performance. That brings us to this year’s halftime headliner Madonna. Sure Madonna kicked up her share of controversy in the 80’s, but at the age of 53 with so much time spent in front of the spotlight she surely could be counted on to provide a well-choreographed performance that wouldn’t offend any viewers.

Tom Brady's Wife Drops the Ball with Post Game Tirade

Tom Brady’s legacy as one of the greatest quarterbacks in NFL history took a serious blow this week after his New England Patriots lost a second Super Bowl to Eli “the punk” Manning’s New York Giants. Making matters worse for Brady is all the media attention he’s receiving for post-game comments made by his super model wife Gisele Bundchen. Nobody would have put the blame on Brady for the Patriots loss, yet Bundchen felt the need to blast her quarterback husband’s receivers for dropping a few key passes down the stretch of Sunday’s game.

Bruins Goalie Treads on his Own Legacy with Presidential Snub

Boston Bruins goalie Tim Thomas made headlines this week for his decision not to attend the traditional visit to the White House made every year by the reigning champs in various professional and college sports. As I read about the subject on ESPN, I inevitably found myself reading through the readers’ comments on the bottom of the page. This story had incited a virtual riot in the comment section; democrats and republicans at each other’s throats. Of course the Republicans were defending Thomas’ right to snub Obama while the Democrats vilified him and expressed their desire to have him removed from the country. Tim Thomas was certainly not the first and won’t be the last athlete to skip the ceremonial White House visit of the champions. So why has this most recent White House snub caused such a controversy.
