Cierra Wieja is a Professional Writing student at Algonquin College in Ottawa. Born and raised in the small city of Sault Ste. Marie, she always dreamed of one day moving to the big city. She enjoys watching movies, especially classic films, listening to music, and cooking for her friends. Besides writing, she is interested in fashion, politics, and studying psychology. And So It Begins...

Any academy award is a big deal because –well – it’s the academy awards! This year, Canadian filmmaker and screenwriter Philippe Falardeau is lucky enough to be considered in the category of best foreign film for the movie Monsieur Lazhar. The movie follows an Algerian immigrant who is sent in to replace an elementary teacher that has passed away. If you have the chance you should really watch it (assuming you understand French or don’t mind reading subtitles).
