Kaitlyn Patey

Kaitlyn Patey is an impassioned writer who is also striving to become a professional actor. Currently enrolled in the Professional Writing program at Algonquin College she enjoys being in the capital city as she can easily explore her interests in writing, theatre and film. But, she always returns to her roots in the countryside just north of Belleville, Ontario.

Her hobbies include volunteering and working at various professional theatres around her hometown, writing towards novels and scripts, studying the history of film, and being with her close-knit family. In the future she plans to take the Scriptwriting Program at Algonquin and then continue her work in theatre or get a job with a publishing company as she works towards getting one of her own novels published. Or both. Who knows?

The Sexy Geek

He has been titled as one of today's sexiest geeks in cinema but when questioned about it on Conan Jesse Eisenberg retorted wittily “Why couldn’t it just be sexiest?…I’ve spent the last twenty-five years of my life trying to avoid that [term]…” Why couldn’t it be? Because not even the sexiest men alive can make both looking sweet and awkward as believable and real as Eisenberg can.

Born in New York City, Eisenberg took his first steps as an actor on the Broadway stage creating his love for performing. As he got older Eisenberg had his first performances in front of the camera on television but when he started to hit the big screen it wasn’t with blockbuster hits. Better yet, Eisenberg took roles that he felt challenged him and were remarkably well written, even if they didn’t give him fifteen minutes of fame.

Audiences started warming up to Eisenberg instantly but it wouldn’t be until Adventureland, and then the surprisingly popular horror-comedy flick Zombieland that would see his fame grow to an international scale. Movie goers loved his awkward yet meaningful  personality, but that’s Eisenberg himself. When he took the part of Facebook’s creator Mark Zuckerberg for the film The Social Network Eisenberg showed his true talents. He wasn’t just "the amateur trying to make it good" kind of characters anymore; he was an actor who could pull off very real performances. However, with his new found fame Eisenberg still picks the characters he wants, especially with his recent act as a Jewish boy trying to gain respect from his family, even if it means taking part in drug trafficking, in Holy Rollers.

Eisenberg makes his way as a new leading man by playing his characters as very truthful human beings. That truth comes out best when Eisenberg doesn’t shy away from his awkward and sensitive traits that make him who he is. He filters away from any glitter or glamour that his new fame has for him and makes his own decisions about his career. It is highly doubtful he will ever stray from that philosophy because even with Eisenberg’s shy persona and non-gallant lifestyle he more than stands out in a crowd, he makes the crowd love him in his own way.
